GIMME SOME CANDY!!!

Since Russ and I aren't partaking of candy these days (though we plan to enjoy some serious treats (Graeters Ice Cream, Pie, etc. during Thanksgiving vacation), I have been frustrated with the entire week of celebrating Halloween where my kids come home from school, church and the neighborhood with bags full of candy. I love the idea of dressing up in costumes, though, and we had some winners this year.

Sam was Jengo Fett of Star Wars fame and he went trick-or-treating with an entire band of Star Wars characters. I wanted him to be a Jedi knight so he wouldn't have to deal with the obnoxious helmet, but there's no convincing Sam when he makes up his mind to do something....sounds like his dad!
Gracie and her friend Emi were the ugly step sisters and our friend Jane was the ugly step-mother. All wore dresses that I actually wore to formals and at the time I thought they were AWESOME...I promise, I wasn't the only one in draperies at these formals. They really WERE in!
Clara was a very sweet Cinderella dressed in rags with birds and mice around. She even put a little ink on her face for ashes (I wasn't aware of this until after she did it and it took some doing to get the ink off later).
David was a duck. He has an excellent "Kack-Kack" and we already had the costume (all his siblings have worn it). He wasn't so into the trick-or-treating, but is the only kid on earth who thinks dum dum suckers are the BEST candy in the bag!

The kids all wore entirely different costumes to school. Clara was Olivia the pig from the Olivia books. Sam was one of the kids from The Spiderwick Chronicles and Gracie was a duck. She didn't want to wear my drapery dress to middle school--go figure!

I remember Sam in that costume. Time flies!
