Cub Scout Inferno

Yesterday, I had the new experience of attending Cub Scout Day Camp in Alabama during the end of July. The temperature was close to 100 and the heat index was 106. It was a hot, humid, hades! The boys had a great time, but there were leaders (and a few boys) experiencing heat stroke and spending time in the first aid tent where they were told to drink lots of Sprite and Capri Sun....not so sure most MD's would suggest this treatment (the next phase was throwing up the Sprite and Capri Sun). S did really well and was thrilled to hit the target in Archery. I think all of his training with the Wii has really paid off. The big news is that C lost a tooth in the tot lot at camp. She and G spent the day doing crafts, swimming and hiking and it was the best deal ($3 per kid for the whole day...as long as one of their parents is braving the heat to chaperone the boys). Russ went today and I sent him and our Cub Master, Chris Foster, with a cooler full of Gatorade and Diet Coke...they were both up all night at the hospital and I was a little worried about their tolerance for heat and Cub Scouts (I hope they took some Advil too). I get to go again tomorrow....pray for a cold spell!
