Here is a list of D's words. He doesn't talk quite as much as his siblings did at age one, but he can climb up the ladder to the top bunk (not an encouraged activity) and he dog-wrangles with the best of them.
First word: either "hi" pronounced "haaa" or Dad pronounced "dadadadada" (a few months ago)
Most frequent word: "Ball" pronounced "baaaaa!" usually over and over in a scream (today this was used to describe the apples in our buggy (alabama term) at Costco and the entire store had to hear it. Finally we gave him a "baaaaaa!" and he was happy.
Other favorites: Mom or "mamamamamam"
Dog or "daawww!" (also applies to Kangaroos and various animals)
Cat or "Taaaaaa!" (notice that most words are exclamatory)
Baby or "baba" (loves baby pictures-kids under ~age 4 are baba"
Grandpa or "bapa" or "gapa" (sorry grandma)
Car or "brmmmm"
No or "na!" (might be a new favorite)
Uh-Oh or cough then "oh" (sounds like something is stuck in his throat)
There might be a few others, but I can't think of them right now.
